Reports to Director of Engineering
POSITION SUMMARY
Executes engineering and process-based initiatives in support of DairiConcepts’ corporate capital plan, typically working on projects in a production facility. Develops equipment and process specifications, obtains information, prepares cost estimates and interfaces with contractors. Assists with equipment commissioning, as well as process optimization and trouble-shooting. Prepares written reports related to project activity.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
– Acts as the site project manager for capital projects
– Prepares project documents including justifications, budget analysis, calculations, plans, specifications, cost estimates and completion schedules
– Reviews and checks engineering drawings, plans, calculations, estimates and reports for completeness, accuracy and soundness
– Provides guidance and work supervision to contractors and site maintenance personnel
– Responsible for contract administration including review of bid packages
– Determines scope of work, prepares requests for proposals, evaluates proposals and participates in the selection of contractors and suppliers
–Generates project financial and performance reports
–Implements use of new technologies, cost savings techniques and improved safety procedures
–Works with purchasing to create project requests, payment terms and shipping arrangements
–Works with accounting to track project progress and control progress payments
–Significant travel required
REQUIREMENTS
– Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering or food science
– Three or more years of work experience in capital plant project engineering in a food manufacturing facility
– Working knowledge and understanding of the design and layout of food plant processing equipment
– Working knowledge of plant utilities, including steam, water, electricity, compressed air and refrigeration
– Ability to travel 50% of the time
