POSITION SUMMARY

This is a leadership role at both the plant level and throughout the entire organization. This position manages the production operations at the Portales, NM location, a milk-balancing facility that receives raw milk and manufactures dairy-based ingredients and powders.

The Plant Manager directly supervises the production management team in a union-free environment. Overall responsibilities include achievement of planned efficiencies and profitability for the plant, insuring a safe work environment, and meeting or exceeding the company’s quality and operational standards.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

– Ensure safe work environment and that all safety hazards are properly addressed.
– Ensure plant operations are in compliance with regulatory, quality and company requirements
– Report and address non-compliances as required
– Effectively communicate to employees at all levels to ensure performance objectives are understood
– Engage plant leadership to understand and address areas of unsatisfactory performance
– Provide systems and processes to managers and supervisors for timely feedback of on-going operations and performance
– Achieve plant objectives for operating efficiencies and plant profitability
– Develop team members’ skills to prepare them for increasing responsibility
– Provide outstanding customer service to internal and external customers
– Impart qualities of leadership in the plant and community

REQUIREMENTS
– Bachelor’s degree in related or relevant field
– Ten years of documented management experience in a food manufacturing environment
– Minimum five years of experience in dairy ingredient manufacturing
– Technical expertise in milk processing, including receiving, separation, filtration and spray dry manufacturing
– Competency in quality standards execution
– High level of proficiency in dairy food manufacturing processes and procedures
– Demonstrated proficiency in problem solving and contingency management, including the ability to understand cause and effect and implement action plans to drive positive results
– Understanding of P&L statements and manufacturing financials
– Ability to understand and utilize Key Performance Indicators to identify potential trends and results
– Excellent written and oral communication skills
– Excellent interpersonal skills to lead, delegate and positively interact with customers, employees, work teams and managers
– Sound decision-making skills, including the ability to prioritize base on core values of the organization
– Ability to schedule and organize work
– Imparts leadership qualities in the plant and in the community
