PDF PACKING OPERATOR – NUCON TOWER (NIGHT SHIFT), Allerton, IA

Position Summary
The Packing Operator – Nucon Tower works in a manufacturing environment in the NUCON tower area and operates the packaging equipment there. Additionally, the Operator learns the packaging processes associated with SAPAC and the bulk bagging packaging areas. Finally, the Operator follows GMP guidelines and HACCP protocols to ensure the safe and sanitary packaging of finished product from the manufacturing operations.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Prepares appropriate packaging with correct labeling using stencils, printer, and paper labels and using information listed on packaging reports and product labeling and packaging work instructions
  • Samples products in accordance with the Allerton Finished Product Sampling procedure
  • Fills out the sampling schedule during each production run and handles samples properly to avoid contamination
  • Using equipment in packaging areas, properly fills, seals, places on pallet, removes from packaging area, and delivers to warehouse storage areas using a forklift
  • Visually inspects color and consistency of product throughout the shift and notifies Team Lead, Supervisors, and Dryer Operators if product appears to be out of specifications or compromised in any way
  • Performs daily and weekly housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and sanitary environment in the packaging areas
  • Follows company safety rules and use appropriate PPE and safety gear provided
  • Performs some general cleaning, painting, and other maintenance projects throughout the facility, which may be assigned during shutdown periods
  • Performs other tasks as assigned

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Follow written procedures, work instructions, and directions provided by management
  • Operate forklifts after receiving Lift Truck Operator training
  • Be able to lift 55 pounds repetitively
  • Attention to detail
  • Minimum of one month on-the-job training with an experienced operator
