Reports To: Maintenance Supervisor

Position Summary
The Maintenance Technician works in a manufacturing environment and contributes to ensuring all equipment and systems within the facility are performing properly and efficiently and to supporting the plant team in the achievement of plant objectives, including production efficiencies and continuous improvement initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Calibrates, troubleshoots, repairs and maintains equipment
  • Performs preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of mechanical and electrical systems
  • Maintains the facility’s utility systems, including boilers, the ammonia system and air compressors
  • Performs general maintenance
  • Performs non-certified welding as required
  • Reads and interprets assembly drawings and blueprints
  • Uses knowledge of motor load centers, power distribution systems and motor/electrical controls
  • Perform daily and weekly housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and sanitary environment, equipment and tools
  • Follows company safety rules, and uses appropriate PPE and safety gear provided


  • High school diploma or equivalent; two-year technical degree preferred
  • Two years of demonstrated work experience performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and repair on manufacturing and plant equipment, machinery and controls
  • A solid working knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems
  • Knowledge of working with and around low voltage wiring
  • Basic experience with Allen Bradley products
  • Basic PLC knowledge with IT computer skills preferred
  • Experience in a food manufacturing environment preferred
  • Good troubleshooting skills as they apply to plant equipment
  • Commitment to follow written procedures, work instructions and directions provided by management
  • Ability to work tasks to completion with little or no assistance, prioritizing duties to meet team objectives
  • Ability to work well with other plant employees, to be self-motivated and to pay careful attention to details
